Founded in 1975, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Seoul National University has 62 faculty, 420 undergraduate and 610 graduate students as of 2034.

With fault-tolerant quantum computers entering practical use in 2029 and the 6G rollout and post-quantum migration converging in 2030, the department reorganized into five research groups: Quantum and Beyond-Moore Computing, AI, Systems and Architecture, Networks and Security, and HCI and Robotics.
